\n\t\u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>\u201d leaks have begun, as a high-quality bootleg of the film reached millions of people on X thanks to a viral tweet on July 25.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt 2:25 p.m. PT, a post on X reading \u201cSomeone uploaded \u2018The Odyssey\u2019 full movie on X. Can you believe it?\u201d amplified a message from a now-suspended account. The message included a high-quality version of the film, as confirmed by Variety, and climbed to over 2.1 million views within two and a half hours. By that time, the streaming film was replaced by a takedown notice, and then the account was suspended.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt certainly doesn\u2019t seem to have hurt the film\u2019s still-surging box office<\/a> in its second weekend, during which it earned another $87 million, or lessen demand for the coveted Imax 70 mm tickets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs of July 26, a few clones of the bootlegged film are available on X, but they\u2019ve been mostly flooded away by mislabeled files promising \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d but actually showing a Rickroll, the longtime internet prank of tricking people into watching the music video for Rick Astley\u2019s 1987 song \u201cNever Gonna Give You Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal Pictures released a statement to Variety about the leak, writing, \u201cWe became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
