Three women, one of whom is reported to be pregnant, have been stabbed in Paris after they were attacked by a knife-wielding suspect.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The incident took place at about 9.30 am near Porte de Clichy in the French capital, with the attacker seen carrying two knives.<\/p>\n

The man (31), who has not yet been named, was stopped by an off-duty police officer after attacking the women, who are aged<\/p>\n

Part of the incident was captured on camera, with the suspect, having been brought to the ground, saying, \u201cIt is Allah who commanded me. I pay tribute to him; it was a courageous act.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two of the women are understood to be in a critical but non-life-threatening condition. The victims are aged 19, 24 and 36 years.<\/p>\n

One of the injured women was stabbed in the abdomen while another was wounded in the back.<\/p>\n

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters that one of the women targeted is expecting a baby and that the motive for the attack is unclear, with the suspect making a number of \u201cincoherent\u201d comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw a young woman lying on the floor of the bar; she was covered in blood,\u201d a witness told Le Figaro<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Issa Besseka, a worker for a local brasserie, said, \u201cI saw the man approaching people, threatening them. He went towards a woman who hadn\u2019t seen him coming, and he started stabbing her in the shoulder and buttocks.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor of Paris\u2019 17th arrondissement, Geoffroy Boulard, praised the officer who brought the suspect to the ground, saying, \u201cI salute the cool-headedness, courage, and immediate action of an off-duty police officer and passersby.\u201d<\/p>\n
