Universal has spoken out after a leaked copy of Christopher Nolan’s<\/a> The Odyssey was posted on X. It was reported that two million people viewed the post on social media, which contained a high-quality version of the historical epic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The post was live for over two hours on Saturday (25 July) before the account was suspended, and thus the film was taken down. A lower-quality version was also reportedly posted on the platform the following day, and deleted within a few hours.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a statement after the leak, a representative for Universal said (via The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>): “We became aware of the unauthorised posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols.”<\/p>\n

“We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights,” it continued.<\/p>\n

Despite the leak, The Odyssey earned a whopping $215 million worldwide during its second weekend, taking its total to an eye-watering $639 million in just 10 days (via Box Office Mojo<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It has broken records for Nolan<\/a>, with the film currently being his top-rated by critics on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> with a score of 94% based on 441 reviews<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy<\/a>, the acclaimed filmmaker said that his latest project was a “culmination” of his career, namely in being the first film to shoot entirely on IMAX cameras.<\/p>\n

“It’s a long-held dream of mine to do this kind of film entirely on IMAX,” he began. “The Odyssey is something, from when I was first attached to direct Troy for Warner Bros briefly 20 years ago, the image of the Trojan Horse in the sand, [that] I’ve carried with me.”<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of things coming together in this film, and I feel there are a lot of ways in which I was able to take things that I’ve done in the past and build on them for this film to do something that, for me, was new and challenging.” <\/p>\n

“It’s interesting because it’s an epic tale and you want to put as much in as you can, but you also want to move. You want to be on a thrill ride. You want to keep going from place to place to place,” he added.<\/p>\n

“I think we’ve gone as far as we can. I think they first told me it was two and a half hours years ago, and then we gradually, over the years, we got bigger and bigger, but it’s enough time to tell the story.” <\/p>\n
