More than two decades after the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi was first announced, the Department of Culture and Tourism \u2013 Abu Dhabi confirms that the museum<\/a> is set to open to the public on December 11th, 2026. Designed by the late<\/a> Pritzker Prize-winning<\/a> architect Frank Gehry<\/a>, the museum arrives as one of the most significant cultural projects completed in recent years, adding another landmark to Saadiyat Cultural District.<\/p>\n

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is Frank Gehry\u2019s largest museum, occupying approximately 80,000 square meters with 11,600 square meters of gallery space distributed across 30 galleries, alongside 23,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition areas.<\/p>\n

Gehry\u2019s Abu Dhabi design responds more directly to the environmental conditions of the Gulf. Organized around a monumental central atrium, the museum takes shape through interconnected gallery spaces beneath a skyline punctuated by ten sculptural cones. Nine are wrapped in stainless steel mesh, while one combines onyx and glass, producing a distinctive silhouette visible across Saadiyat Island.<\/p>\n
