<\/p>\nLate Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane is set to appear posthumously in an upcoming BBC war thriller series set during the evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan in August 2021. Titled Kabul, the six-parter focuses on the civilians caught in the evacuation as the Taliban entered the city.<\/p>\n
A French, German and Italian co-production, the English-language series stars Dane alongside Shervin Alenabi, Jonathan Zacca\u00ef, Thibault Evrard, Vassilis Kukalawi, and Jeanne Goursaud as well as Gianmarco Saurino and Medici: Masters of Florence’s Valentina Cervi.<\/p>\n
The synopsis teases chaos as the US troops withdraw from the capital whilst European and American authorities work to ensure the safety of civilians.<\/p>\n

“Kabul, August 15, 2021. As American troops withdraw, the Taliban enter the city. The Nazany family, like many civilians, is forced to flee, fearing retaliation.<\/p>\n
“In this desperate and chaotic situation \u2013 shadowed by the looming threat of an attack by ISIS \u2013 French police officers, Italian diplomats, German military personnel, and American intelligence services must somehow coordinate to manage the influx of civilians,” the synopsis reads.<\/p>\n

“Kabul is a tragedy of the highest stakes,” the BBC’s head of program acquisition Nick Lee said in a statement. <\/p>\n
“A warzone story which is propelled by the real ticking clock of the evacuation that was just five years ago this summer. Global politics remain complex, but Kabul dramatises the biggest view of history through the smallest window of a human family.”<\/p>\n

Airing in France earlier this year, Kabul marks one of Dane’s final TV appearances. The Euphoria star died in February at age 53 following complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The actor shared his diagnosis publicly<\/a> in April 2025.<\/p>\n His family released a statement<\/a> to announce his passing and celebrating his “courageous battle” with ALS, a form or motor neurone disease that affects nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain, causing loss of muscle control.<\/p>\n “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” the statement read. <\/p>\n “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the centre of his world.<\/p>\n “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.
