An Irish debut novelist is among the 13 writers longlisted for the 2026 Booker Prize, one of the world’s leading literary awards for fiction.<\/p>\n
Dubliner Djamel White has been nominated for his first novel, All Them Dogs, which was published earlier this year. He is one of three debut novelists included on this year’s longlist.<\/p>\n
The 2026 Booker Prize longlist, announced today, features 13 novels by authors representing seven nationalities across three continents.<\/p>\n
The judges selected the books from 163 novels submitted by publishers.<\/p>\n
The longlist also includes previous Booker Prize winners Douglas Stuart for John of John and Marlon James for The Disappearers.<\/p>\n
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Strout has also been longlisted with The Things We Never Say.<\/p>\n
Other writers on the longlist include Chloe Aridjis, Emma Cline, Makenna Goodman, M. John Harrison, Luke Kennard, Kenan Orhan, Gwendoline Riley, Rebecca Perry and Missouri Williams.<\/p>\n
The shortlist of six books will be announced on 22 September at the Southbank Centre in London.<\/p>\n

All Them Dogs follows Tony Ward, a young gangster who returns to Dublin after five years in England hoping to regain his place in the city’s criminal underworld.<\/p>\n
The Booker Prize is awarded annually to the best original novel written in English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland. It was first awarded in 1969.<\/p>\n
This year’s judging panel is chaired by historian Mary Beard and also includes musician Jarvis Cocker, author Patricia Lockwood, writer Raymond Antrobus and journalist and critic Rebecca Liu.<\/p>\n
The winner of the 2026 Booker Prize will be announced on 9 November at a ceremony in London. The winning author will receive a prize of \u00a350,000, while each shortlisted author will receive \u00a32,500.<\/p>\n
