{"id":573721,"date":"2026-07-29T11:55:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T11:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/573721\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T11:55:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T11:55:10","slug":"experts-give-tips-on-how-to-stay-cool-while-exercising-in-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/573721\/","title":{"rendered":"Experts give tips on how to stay cool while exercising in heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Someone who knows about exercising in hot weather is David Exell from Wrington.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 84-year-old used to hold the record for the oldest British man to run the Marathon Des Sables, a 155-mile ultra-marathon in the Sahara Desert.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Exell said the number one rule was to stay as hydrated as possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;When you&#8217;re doing these things in the desert, there&#8217;s no shade,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;You just have a hat on with flaps on it which keeps all the heat off your head and you hope for the best.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;You&#8217;re on hot sand all the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last year, Exell cycled 1,000km from the Alps to the Mediterranean with his two grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We spent a little bit of time in the shade,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You&#8217;ve got to start really early in the morning.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Someone who knows about exercising in hot weather is David Exell from Wrington.
