{"id":573871,"date":"2026-07-29T13:41:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T13:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/573871\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T13:41:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T13:41:09","slug":"cork-road-users-warned-of-traffic-restrictions-around-city-hall-as-eu-presidency-meetings-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/573871\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork road users warned of traffic restrictions around City Hall as EU Presidency meetings continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Cork city commuters can expect to face congestion around City Hall this morning, with an increased garda presence being deployed to facilitate a second day of EU Presidency meetings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Meetings will be held at Cork City Hall this morning, with additional traffic and security restrictions expected outside City Hall between 7:30am and 8:30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed say it will provide real-time traffic updates &#8220;where appropriate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In light of the informal meetings, drone detection systems will be deployed at venues hosting the presidency meetings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said any breaches of restricted airspace will be subject to investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The meeting will involve EU fisheries ministers and will be chaired by marine minister Martin Heydon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">European fisheries ministers, representatives of the European Commission and other industry stakeholders are also expected to feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Discussions will focus on the EU&#8217;s Common Fisheries Policy, which has drawn criticism<br \/>from some Irish fishermen over what they regard as restrictive fishing quotas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The talks will also consider how the European Union can sustainably develop its fisheries and aquaculture sectors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ireland assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1.
