Coronation Street’s Tim Metcalfe gets a blast from the past next week, when one of his passengers turns out to be a member of his family.<\/p>\n

The cabbie is delighted when he picks up his cousin Richie, who he hasn’t seen for years.<\/p>\n

It turns out that Tim and Richie were like peas in a pod growing up, and the pair are chuffed to be reunited.<\/p>\n

Taking advantage of Sally being away, Tim brings Richie back to his place for a proper catch-up.<\/p>\n

After Tim invites the local lads round so they can get to know Richie over a few bevvies, it soon becomes clear that not everyone is pleased by Tim’s reconnection. <\/p>\n

While Tim and Richie take a trip down memory lane and reminisce about their childhood antics, Steve McDonald starts to feel put out that his BFF has a new playmate.<\/p>\n

Will Richie end up driving a wedge between Tim and Steve?<\/p>\n

“We know that Tim and Steve can both get very sensitive when it comes to their friendship,” notes our Corrie source. “It wasn’t so long ago that Tim feared Steve was getting too close to Ben<\/a>, who later turned out to be Steve’s long-lost brother.<\/p>\n

“At the time, Tim marked his territory by making it clear that nobody could replace him as Steve’s best friend! Now it seems that the tables have turned, with Steve the one who feels left out.”<\/p>\n

Show bosses have cast a familiar face in the role of Richie, as former Hollyoaks actor Nathan Sussex has taken on the part<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nathan is best known to soap fans for playing villain Buster Smith on the Channel 4 soap. He’s also appeared in Corrie before, portraying a doctor in two episodes in 2007.<\/p>\n

While further details are being kept under wraps for now, Richie’s arrival is expected to spark a big story for Tim and Sally in the coming weeks…<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
