Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy has signed a new contract to extend his stay in the Welsh capital until 2029.<\/p>\n
The Corkman, who previously managed Rochdale and worked at the Manchester City Academy, led Cardiff to Sky Bet League One promotion in his first season in south Wales.<\/p>\n
“It’s an amazing honour for me and I\u2019m really grateful to everybody involved,” Barry-Murphy told Cardiff City TV.<\/p>\n
“When I first came here, I had an idea of how big the club was, but over the course of the last 12 months I think I\u2019ve probably seen it in all its splendour, so I\u2019m really pleased.”<\/p>\n
Barry-Murphy’s first Championship match in charge of Cardiff City will come at home to Wrexham on Monday, 17 August.<\/p>\n
