{"id":574527,"date":"2026-07-29T23:12:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T23:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/574527\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T23:12:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T23:12:08","slug":"molumphy-appointed-waterford-hurling-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/574527\/","title":{"rendered":"Molumphy appointed Waterford hurling manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen Molumphy has been confirmed as the next Waterford senior hurling manager.<\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old, who won two Munster titles as a player for the D\u00e9ise as well as a league title to go along with All-Star recognition in 2007, has been appointed on a three-year term and will be ratified at the next county board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Having been a selector for Waterford, Molumphy served as Kerry senior hurling manager from 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/hurling\/2024\/0525\/1451187-comfortable-win-for-kerry-in-molumphys-last-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">to 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Waterford GAA said: &#8220;Waterford GAA is delighted to announce Stephen Molumphy as its proposed new Senior Hurling Manager.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The appointment for a three year term was agreed at a meeting of Coiste Bainisti this evening and will be recommended for ratification at the next meeting of Waterford County Board.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Waterford GAA extend our best wishes to Stephen and wish him every success in the role.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Molumphy succeeds Peter Queally, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/hurling\/2026\/0609\/1577583-queally-calls-time-on-waterford-tenure-after-two-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ended his two-year tenure as manager in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Waterford finished fourth in the Munster round-robin this summer, missing out again on the All-Ireland knockout stages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"youtube-container tpe\" data-embed=\"youtube\" data-id=\"j-ZfwhQu1H8\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stephen Molumphy has been confirmed as the next Waterford senior hurling manager.
