With the World Cup over and many players returning to their clubs for pre-season, we should see some more activity in the transfer market over the coming weeks. That should include for a number of Ireland<\/a> players as they seek new employers before the beginning of the new campaign.<\/p>\n

There has not been a whole lot of transfer news in terms of Irish players in recent weeks, with very few deals having been completed up to this point.\u00a0However, you can expect the likes of Troy Parrott, Sammie Szmodics, and Seamus Coleman to sign elsewhere before the end of the summer window<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another player in desperate need of a move is Chiedozie Ogbene.<\/p>\n

The 2025\/26 season was a disastrous for the winger. Having joined Sheffield United on loan for last season, he would be frozen out during the second half of the campaign due to an excess of loan players at the club.<\/p>\n

He looks likely to leave Ipswich Town this summer after their promotion to the Premier League, with one potential destination having now emerged.<\/p>\n

The Derby Telegraph<\/a> are reporting that Chiedozie Ogbene is being eyed by Derby County for a summer transfer as they look to bolster their forward options ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

The Rams are managed by former Ireland assistant John Eustace, who had a brief spell as part of Stephen Kenny’s staff. He could also link up with a current international teammate at Pride Park, with Sammie Szmodics said to be close to returning to the club having been on loan there for the second half of last season.<\/p>\n

Ogbene will need to choose his next move carefully, having gone through a difficult period in his career over the last couple of seasons. He has struggled both in terms of injury and playing time and will be hoping to bounce back strongly over the coming months.<\/p>\n
