Disney has announced that it has renewed the iconic music competition series, \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d, for a 25th season, which will return in 2027 on ABC and Disney+.<\/p>\n
The new season will premiere on ABC and stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States, along with streaming live on Disney+ once the live shows begin.<\/p>\n
Auditions for this new season will kick off on Tuesday 25th August,\u00a0with the return of \u201cIdol Across America,\u201d the live virtual nationwide search for the next superstar, taking place across all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. Those auditioning will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents face-to-face with an \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d producer, from anywhere in America, across any official audition date for a chance to proceed to the judge auditions. Contenders will also be allowed to audition during open-call dates, and auditions will be open worldwide to all those eligible.<\/p>\n
\u201cIdol Across America\u201d auditions will be held as follows (subject to change):<\/p>\n
VIP Day (Aug. 25): Only the first 250 singers who register will secure a spot for their chance to become the next Idol! Once all spots are claimed, registration for this date closes.

Roger\u2019s Take: \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d returning shouldn\u2019t come as a huge surprise, since it\u2019s been running for so long, but the shift to Disney+ makes sense, as it seemed like Disney started trialling it in the last season, but now they\u2019ve fully committed to making the show available on Disney+ in the US, allowing it to reach a bigger audience.<\/p>\n
