A star from BBC One’s tech thriller The Capture has just been cast in Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock for its second season. Game of Thrones star Indira Varma, who also appeared in The Night Manager and Dune: Prophecy, is among the new cast members announced for the mystery series starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a young Sherlock Holmes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Created by Matthew Parkhill and developed by Peter Harness and Ritchie, who directed the first two episodes of season one, Young Sherlock reimagines the famed detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle as a 19-year-old amateur sleuth. Inspired by Doyle’s works as well as the Young Sherlock Holmes book series by Andrew Lane, Young Sherlock also stars The Other Bennet Sister’s D\u00f3nal Finn as the protagonist’s new friend, James Moriarty.<\/p>\n

Varma will starring on the show’s second season alongside fellow Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen (who played Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish), as well as Olivia Williams and Sophie Skelton. <\/p>\n

We don’t yet know who Varma, Gillen, Williams, or Skelton will play in Young Sherlock season two, but Prime Video has confirmed that season one stars Finn, Natascha McElhone, Holly Cattle, and Max Irons are reprising their roles.<\/p>\n

Ritchie, who also helmed the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr in the titular role, is also expected to return behind the camera for the first episode of season two.<\/p>\n

Season one of Young Sherlock is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> with a critic score of 84% from 50 reviews. It’s been described as a “sensational” series that combines the classic character’s traits fans know and love “with more than one twist” (via Variety<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Nightly<\/a> acknowledged that Young Sherlock might not be the most faithful or remarkable of all Holmes adaptations, but called the series “one of the better more recent Ritchie projects”. <\/p>\n

“It’s a trifle but if you know that going in, it can be an enjoyable confection,” their review reads.<\/p>\n
