\n\tA good outfit and glam combo isn\u2019t enough to save Rachel Chinouriri<\/a> from an existential downward spiral at the club on her latest single, \u201cOne Song Away From Crying.\u201d \u201cShe\u2019s never looked better and she\u2019s never felt worse,\u201d the British singer and songwriter sings on the record, which offers the first glimpse into her upcoming second studio album, I Think I Spoke Too Soon, out Oct. 16.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018One song away from crying\u2019 is about the precipice of a night out where you know you need to leave and have to make a decision,\u201d Chinouriri shared in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s a deeper decision because it\u2019s less about the night itself but more about a reflection of a deeper internal conflict with your self value that you haven\u2019t looked at yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTowards the end of 2024, Chinouriri told Rolling Stone<\/a> she would be taking a different approach to her music than the emotional excavation on What a Devastating Turn of Events. \u201cThis is a world that I\u2019ve now made, which I can step into when I need to and grab the stories that I need,\u201d she said. \u201cOr maybe I\u2019m creating a new world where I write from a happy place and teach myself to write from a place of healing versus a place of trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe title of her second LP suggests Chinouriri might have explored both paths in different ways. \u201cMy core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,\u201d she shared in a statement. \u201cAnd I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person.\u201d\u00a0I Think I Spoke Too Soon will capture this deeper exploration of her relationship with herself.<\/p>\n

\n\tChinouriri established this foundation across What a Devastating Turn of Events alongside records that interrogated her understanding of everything from complicated family dynamics to unfulfilling relationships and her sense of belonging <\/a>away from home. Her 2025 EP Little House, featuring the loved up single \u201cCan We Talk About Isaac,\u201d <\/a>expanded her growing catalogue. \u201cWe\u2019re all slightly broken or traumatized by something,\u201d Chinouriri said. \u201cWe all accept that, and it\u2019s OK to be emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n
