In case you missed it, over the last few weeks, Matt Damon<\/a> has been on the promo circuit for his new movie \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d \u2014 and this included a pit stop on Amy Poehler\u2019s<\/a> \u201cGood Hang\u201d<\/a> podcast.\"\"And now, the very first moment from this interview is going viral after viewers picked up on the strange way that Poehler spoke about the film.\"\"<\/p>\n

For context, Poehler was one of the few people to watch the movie ahead of its release, and Damon was clearly excited to finally speak to a tried-and-tested audience member\u2026 But it may not have gone down how he anticipated it would, with fans claiming that Poehler instead delivered \u201can absolute masterclass in how to sound like you\u2019re complimenting someone\u2019s movie without actually complimenting it.\u201d\"\"<\/p>\n

In the video, as Damon walks into the studio and takes his seat opposite Poehler, she tells him: \u201cWe just got to see it,\u201d to which Damon enthusiastically replies: \u201cI\u2019m so happy! I\u2019ve talked to so few people who\u2019ve seen it!\u201d\"\"\u201cOh, I mean, I feel luc\u2013, really lucky that we got to see it,\u201d Poehler then goes on. \u201cAnd it was so great to be able to see it. Like… Congratulations.\u201d At this point, it seems as though Damon\u2019s enthusiasm has waned, as he politely says: \u201cGreat, great, thank you.\u201d\"\"\u201cIt\u2019s such a huge movie!\u201d Poehler adds, and Damon replies: \u201cYeah, it\u2019s by far the biggest thing I\u2019ve ever been anywhere near.\u201d Poehler continues: \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be big, it is big, and it\u2019s so loud! It\u2019s a really loud movie, get brave! It\u2019s intense.\u201d\"\"\u201cIMAX is intense,\u201d she continues, with Damon agreeing: \u201cYeah\u2026 The whole experience was like that! It was awesome.\u201d\"\"Kicking off the interview properly, Poehler then says: \u201cI wanted to start there because I was lucky enough to get to see it. I’ve been thinking about it a lot. It’s one of those things that sticks with you, of course, because it’s like in many ways probably the most famous story ever told. TV critic Nick Hilton pointed this out in a TikTok<\/a> video, where he added in the caption: \u201cSay what you like about celebrity podcast interviewers but this is an exquisite clip of Amy Poehler talking about \u2018The Odyssey\u2019 with Matt Damon without actually saying anything positive about the film. Just delicious, masterful fluffing of a guest\u2019s ego,\u201d and now that he\u2019s said it, people simply can\u2019t unsee it.\"\"In fact, Hilton\u2019s TikTok has been viewed over 294K times in just 24 hours, with many other users flocking to the comments to share their reaction to the whole thing. Another wrote: \u201cShe said everything except she liked it.\u201d One more picked up on Damon\u2019s fading enthusiasm in the exchange, writing: \u201cI feel like he was realizing slowly she wasn\u2019t complimenting him.\u201d Somebody else quipped: \u201cshe\u2019s basically saying\u2026’look at you in that new haircut!’\u201d\"\"Another comment noted: “Graham Norton always says if he just describes the movie, he hated it, if he compliments he always means it.
