Spider-Man star Tom Holland has said \u201cno-one calms me down better\u201d than his partner, Hollywood star Zendaya.<\/p>\n

The couple met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, with Holland playing the endearing Peter Parker\/Spider-Man opposite highschooler MJ.<\/p>\n

Over the past decade fans have seen the two characters fall in love on-screen, with the Hollywood couple mirroring the relationship off-screen as Holland confirmed earlier this year that the pair are now married after months of speculation.<\/p>\n

Holland and Zendaya have since reprised their roles in the latest iteration of the franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which follows Peter as he navigates his new life four years on from the events of the last film, 2021\u2019s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw a spell cast to make the world forget his real identity in order to save the universe.<\/p>\n

It means his romance with MJ and his friendship with Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon, have also been totally erased from the civilians\u2019 minds, leaving a lonely Peter to continue his crime-fighting in secret while his friends experience life at university.<\/p>\n

Speaking through a roar of cheers for the actor at the London premiere, Holland told the Press Association: \u201cI think Zendaya always just brings me an unbelievable sense of calm, even in the midst of all of this craziness and travelling the world and making these movies and sometimes being really overwhelmed \u2013 that\u2019s what happens when you\u2019re a human being.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo-one calms me down better than she does.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new film takes a more solemn tone to some of the previous movies \u2013 a decision Holland said was made to show Peter through a more vulnerable lens, which came from a desire to find a way to tackle \u201creal-life issues\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWhat makes Peter Parker so special is that he\u2019s a human person, and I think that what people love about him is that they can relate to him, and they see themselves in him, and they aspire to be like him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo for us to tackle real-life issues like being young, feeling like you\u2019re alone, being stuck in this digital age where everything happens, all of our connections happen on the phone, we wanted to find a way to personify that and bring it to the big screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor attended the white carpet in central London wearing a burgundy suit with a metal spider brooch on his tie.<\/p>\n

The upcoming film also stars Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink, whose character and identity has been kept secret, as well as Mark Ruffalo, who reprised his role as Dr Bruce Banner, known to fans as superhero The Incredible Hulk.<\/p>\n

Peter also meets people from his past, including Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando\u2019s Scorpion, while he manages the threat of a new mysterious villain.<\/p>\n

Holland rose to fame playing Spider-Man and first took on the role in 2016\u2019s Captain America: Civil War.<\/p>\n

The following year he became the youngest actor to play a title role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in Spider-Man: Homecoming.<\/p>\n

Its sequels, Far From Home and No Way Home, released in 2019 and 2021 respectively, have each grossed more than one billion dollars worldwide, while the latter became the highest-grossing film of the year.<\/p>\n

Holland has also appeared as the character in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.<\/p>\n
