Ted Lasso star Annette Badland has revealed an expletive-laden moment that ended up being cut from the show’s early episodes. While the series is known for its feel-good nature, the star \u2013 who plays no-nonsense landlady Mae Green on the show \u2013 shared one unseen moment for her character.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the A Night In with Sally Lindsay<\/a> podcast, the actor opened up about working with Danny Dyer, jokingly recalling how he really taught her “to say the C-word”.<\/p>\n

“Early days on Ted [Lasso], they overnight wrote me a speech that had six [C-words],” Annette shared. “So I thought, I’ve worked with Danny Dyer, I can do this. Of course, it’s never been seen on television.<\/p>\n

“Jason [Sudeikis] says there are two speeches cut from Ted Lasso, both are mine. He said, ‘they’re very funny, I wish it could have been in it’. But at the time, when we started that, they were saying this is a family show. I thought, ‘this is never going to go out!'”<\/p>\n

During the chat, Annette also reflected on the success of the Apple TV series, which first premiered in 2020 and is about to return for a fourth season.<\/p>\n

The star suggested it “hit at the right time” during COVID-19, and that “people needed it”, before sharing moving messages she gets from fans.<\/p>\n

“I still get communications that say, ‘my mum’s got cancer, she goes for her treatment, she’s very poorly when she comes home. We all pile on the bed, we watch Ted Lasso. We believe, we laugh…’,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I’m very proud of that. To be involved with that. It also has a true ring on it. It wasn’t designed as a product. It’s what Jason wanted to say about all of us.”<\/p>\n

The fourth season of Ted Lasso premieres next week, and will see the central character take on coaching a second division women’s football team.<\/p>\n

A trailer for the new episodes<\/a> recently dropped, teasing the return of Ted alongside familiar faces such as Roy Kent, Keeley Jones, Coach Beard and Rebecca Welton.<\/p>\n

Ted Lasso season 4 premieres on Apple TV<\/a> on 5 August. Episodes will stream weekly through to 7 October. Seasons 1-3 are available on the same platform now.<\/p>\n
