Irish authorities are making plans to extradite Daniel\u00a0Kinahan, an alleged leader of the\u00a0Kinahan\u00a0organised crime group, back to Ireland from Dubai.<\/p>\n

Kinahan, in his late 40s, was arrested in the United Arab Emirates in April on foot of an arrest warrant issued by the Irish courts in relation to alleged serious organised crime offences.<\/p>\n

Preparations to extradite him are intensifying after it is understood he failed in legal efforts in Dubai to prevent the move.<\/p>\n

Sources have stressed that no timeline has been finalised for Kinahan\u2019s return to Ireland, noting that although the legal process may have concluded, several diplomatic steps are still required to formalise the extradition plans.<\/p>\n

Kinahan\u2019s arrest was carried out in accordance with a bilateral extradition agreement between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

The High Court in Dublin previously named\u00a0Kinahan, who has recently been living in the UAE, as a senior figure in an organised crime gang involved in international drug trafficking and firearms offences.<\/p>\n

The Kinahan cartel was involved in a feud with the rival Hutch crime gang in Ireland, which began in 2015 and resulted in 18 deaths.<\/p>\n

In 2016, an attempt was made on Daniel\u00a0Kinahan\u2019s\u00a0life at a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin.<\/p>\n

Kinahan\u2019s\u00a0involvement in boxing caused controversy in 2020 when heavyweight Tyson Fury thanked him for reaching an agreement for him to take on Anthony Joshua.<\/p>\n

Fury said Kinahan was responsible for organising \u201cthe biggest fight in British boxing history\u201d.<\/p>\n

But within weeks, Fury\u2019s team announced that Kinahan would no longer negotiate for him.<\/p>\n

In 2022, US authorities issued a reward of up to five million dollars (\u20ac4.3 million) for Kinahan\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
