Every trend report points to one conclusion: Y2K fashion is back. That nostalgia has renewed interest in the labels that helped define the early 2000s. Now, Rebecca Taylor<\/a>, a brand synonymous with feminine, romantic dressing, is experiencing a comeback of its own.<\/p>\n Founded in 1996 by its namesake designer, Rebecca Taylor quickly became known for its feminine, vintage-inspired aesthetic. By 1999, the brand staged its first runway show at New York Fashion Week and earned a nomination for the CFDA Perry Ellis Award in 2000<\/a>. <\/p>\n As its popularity grew, Rebecca Taylor became a fixture in the wardrobes of celebrities including Kate Middleton, Taylor Swift, and Alexa Chung as well as on television shows like Sex and the City. <\/p>\n In January 2011, Rebecca Taylor was acquired by Kellwood Company<\/a> and Sun Capital Partners as part of an effort to expand its retail footprint, eventually growing to 18 boutiques. In 2019, the brand was acquired by Vince Holding Corp<\/a>., shortly after Taylor stepped away from the company she founded.<\/p>\n In December 2022, the brand\u2019s intellectual property and certain related assets were acquired by the Ramani Group. Under its new ownership, Rebecca Taylor was relaunched as a direct-to-consumer business, giving the company greater control over its brand positioning and customer experience.<\/p>\n \u201cFor a brand marking its 30th anniversary, it mattered deeply to us to reintroduce her entirely on our own terms with full ownership of the story. Going direct gave us command of our own pricing rather than deferring to a wholesale partner, a far more intimate understanding of who our customer is today, and the clarity, internally, on exactly what this next chapter of the brand stands for,\u201d explains Devyani Ramani, COO of Rebecca Taylor.<\/p>\n While launching as a direct-to-consumer business was an intentional first step, brick-and-mortar retail was always part of the long-term strategy.<\/p>\n The Tribeca Boutique<\/p>\n Rebecca Taylor’s Tribecca flagship<\/p>\n Rebecca Taylor<\/p>\n In October 2025, the Ramani Group opened Rebecca Taylor’s first boutique of its new era in Tribeca at 123 Watts Street in New York City.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s the first physical space built for this next chapter – downtown, lived-in, and close to the customer who’s known the brand for years. The space is welcoming and focused on being a salon-based experiential space for our customers and community to be welcomed,\u201d Devyani Ramani, COO of Rebecca Taylor, tells me.<\/p>\n Designed by Ece Allen from Limitless Designs<\/a> and lighting by Anthony Dickens and Firmamento Milan<\/a>, the boutique combines understated elegance with unmistakable New York energy.<\/p>\n \u201cThink heritage romance, updated for how she lives now,\u201d says Ramani.<\/p>\n Rather than functioning as a traditional retail store, she describes the space as more of a \u201csalon\u201d\u2014a place where customers can experience the brand through community, conversation, and personal styling.<\/p>\n Future Expansion<\/p>\n The Tribeca boutique and Hamptons residency are only the beginning. Ramani says the company is already planning additional retail expansion across the United States.<\/p>\n \u201cExpansion is very much part of our vision for what comes next. The Tribeca Salon and the Hamptons residency are really just the opening notes of a much larger story we’re building toward for the brand. We\u2019re being every bit as deliberate about where and how we grow as we have been with every other decision throughout this relaunch.
