Big Brother’s<\/a> Chantelle Houghton has revealed her true thoughts about ex-husband Preston’s infamous walk off on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The reality TV star and The Ordinary Boys frontman first met on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, later getting married before splitting in 2007. <\/p>\n

During their marriage, Preston appeared on a 2007 episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where host Simon Amstell made jokes about Chantelle when reading excerpts from her autobiography Living the Dream, leading Preston to storm off the set. <\/p>\n

While appearing on the We Need To Talk<\/a> podcast, Chantelle revealed what she thought about the situation, saying she was “so touched” that he’d left the set in response to the jokes about her. <\/p>\n

She said that she was in the green room during filming at the time, and it “did sound embarrassing and it was cringeworthy”, adding: “It was making a fool out of me.”<\/p>\n

“And Preston was obviously just expected to sit there and like listen to it,” Chantelle continued. “I was so touched that he got up and walked out because actually, the presenter was just disrespecting me.”<\/p>\n

The reality TV star said that afterwards Preston got a lot of “backlash for doing that”, but she “really appreciated what he did”. <\/p>\n

Shortly after the incident occurred, a BBC spokesperson said (via BBC News<\/a>): “It’s a shame Preston felt he had to leave. Fans will know Simon loves to banter with his guests. It’s the nature of the show – and it’s not meant in a mean way.”<\/p>\n

Preston has also made numerous statements on what happened, telling BBC News<\/a> in 2009: “I’m struggling to think why I would have acted so weird.” He then described Amstell as “funny, charming and likeable, which made it all the more embarrassing”. <\/p>\n

The musician said he’d return to the show if asked, adding: “I would love to go on there and show them that I’m not a tantrum-y person.”<\/p>\n

However, in a 2026 interview with The Guardian<\/a>, he said that he sees his walkout as a “proud moment”, adding: “It was actually cruel and classist. I really don\u2019t know what other choice I had.”<\/p>\n

When asked about his comments to The Guardian by podcast host Paul C. Brunson, Chantelle laughed and revealed that she “didn’t know what classism is”, as she continued: “This is why the marriage didn’t work.”<\/p>\n
