Clueless is coming back with a sequel series, as Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her iconic lead role. The 1995 film was a staple of the mid-’90s, and its legacy has been cemented by its many unforgettable quotes and famous outfits, which have been repeated in several pop culture moments since. <\/p>\n

In case you’ve never seen it, the coming-of-age film, which is a loose adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma, follows popular girl Cher Horowitz (Silverstone) as she takes newcomer Tai Frasier (Brittany Murphy) under her wing while also attempting to deal with her own problems in the process. <\/p>\n

With a worldwide box office gross of $56 million (via Box Office Mojo<\/a>) and a rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, people have been hankering for more Clueless, and now, a sequel series is in the works at Paramount+.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> reports that a limited series has been greenlit, with filming expected to begin in 2027. But that’s not all, as Silverstone is returning as an adult Cher, who now faces parenting difficulties when her teenage daughter enters high school. <\/p>\n

The new Clueless series is being written by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss. The trio along with Silverstone are also executive producers on the show, as well as the original film’s writer-director Amy Heckerling. <\/p>\n

There’s been plenty of discussion surrounding the possibility of a Clueless reboot, with a different series centred around Cher’s friend, Dionne<\/a> (Stacey Dash), being set for development in 2020, but ultimately not going anywhere. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another remake from Girls Trip writer Tracey Oliver<\/a> was also said to be in the works, though it too didn’t go forward. <\/p>\n

CBS Studios then tried again with another creative team at Peacock before it was later passed on \u2013 until Paramount+ picked up the project. <\/p>\n
