Canon’s first V-series camera, which was announced in May, is based around the same 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor found in the EOS R6 Mark III and has much in common with that camera despite having features aimed at serious videographers and content creators. Like the EOS R6 Mark III, the R6 V can record 7K/60p RAW Light, 7K/30p open gate, oversampled 4K/60p, and uncropped 4K/120p, but with the addition of a cooling fan, it is capable of much longer (or unlimited) recording times compared to the R6 Mark III.

The NA-R6V housing is designed to provide the best possible shooting experience for filmmakers while maintaining compatibility with Nauticam’s full range of accessories—from wet lenses to monitor connectivity options. Important controls are ergonomically positioned next to the integrated handles, while the N120 port system accommodates both RF- and EF-mount lenses. HDMI 2.0/1.4 monitors and monitor/recorders are fully supported, working seamlessly with Nauticam’s monitor housings such as the new housing for Atomos Ninja TX, Ninja TX GO, and Ninja RAW. It records 7K 60p 12-bit RAW internally, 7K 30p Open Gate for full-sensor reframing, oversampled 4K up to 60p, and uncropped 4K 120p for slow motion, all backed by an internal cooling fan that keeps long clips rolling. There is no built-in viewfinder: the R6 V is designed to be shot on its rear screen or an external monitor, which makes the way it is housed and monitored underwater central to getting the shot.

That video-first design is exactly why the R6 V belongs in a purpose-built underwater system. A 32.5MP sensor feeding 7K RAW and oversampled 4K resolves every imperfection in the water column and in the glass in front of it, and shooting without an eye-level finder means the operator depends on a bright, well-placed monitor and controls that fall to hand on a moving reef. The NA-R6V is engineered to deliver both.

Key Features

32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor
7K 60p internal 12-bit RAW recording
7K 30p Open Gate capture
Oversampled 4K up to 60p and uncropped 4K 120p
Dual Pixel CMOS AF with video-optimized subject tracking
In-body image stabilization with internal cooling fan for extended record times
Full-size HDMI output, dual card slots (CFexpress Type B + SD)

Resolution and dynamic range of this order demand optics designed for the job. Water is an unforgiving optical element, and a sensor recording 7K RAW will show softness, chromatic aberration, or a curved field that a lesser workflow would hide. The NA-R6V opens the R6 V to Nauticam’s N120 port system and its family of premium water-contact optics, so the picture stays sharp corner to corner and the field of view is the one the scene actually needs.

THE NAUTICAM NA-R6V

The NA-R6V is machined from solid aluminium, hard anodized, and depth rated to 100m. It arrives set up to dive: handles, stabilizing brackets, and the moisture alarm battery are pre-installed out of the box. Because the R6 V is a compact body, the housing is compact too, at 358mm wide, 201mm high, and 134mm deep and 2.96kg in air, yet it is engineered to sit neutrally buoyant in the water with the camera and battery inside, so the rig neither pulls down on your wrists nor floats away from the subject.

Mission Control Design

Every control the R6 V shooter reaches for on a dive is placed within a finger’s travel of the ergonomic MIL handles, which lock to the housing with a Rotary Housing Lock for a rigid, rattle-free platform even when loaded with monitors and lights. An AF-ON lever sits under the right thumb and a Playback lever under the left, so pulling focus and reviewing a take never means hunting for a button. A two-stage trigger drives smooth half-press focus and clean record activation. The standout is a patent-pending dual-function lens control knob that handles both zoom and focus from a single wheel, switched between the two by a lever directly below it, which keeps power-zoom and manual-focus RF lenses fully controllable without cluttering the housing with duplicate gears.

Premium Professional Optics

The NA-R6V uses the N120 Auto Lock Port System II (international patent pending), which seats and locks the port with a positive, tool-free action and drives RF lenses through the RF Lens Gear System II. Beyond conventional dome and macro ports, the N120 system opens the door to Nauticam’s premium water-contact optics: the WACP-2 delivers a 140-degree field of view with compatible 14mm lenses, the FCP reaches 170 degrees with compatible 28mm lenses, and the WWL family and WACP-1B give wide, edge-to-edge scenes with near-zero minimum focus distance. For the small end, the SMC and CMC super-macro converters and the Mid-range Focus Optimizer let the R6 V’s autofocus and resolution work at magnifications and working distances a bare lens cannot reach. The NA-R6V routes the camera’s full-size HDMI signal through a bulkhead to an external monitor housing, supporting both HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cable systems. That opens up Nauticam’s monitor and recorder housings, from the Atomos Ninja V and Ninja TX housings for 4Kp60 10-bit recording, to the Shinobi II housing for a lightweight bright monitor, to the 7-inch G7 and T7 UltraHD monitors for a large, gradable image on the reef. Purpose-built cables and M24 or M16 bulkhead options are available for each configuration.

Surface Power for Extended Recording

Sustained 7K RAW capture is demanding on the camera’s battery. The NA-R6V accepts an optional USB-C bulkhead so a surface USB-PD power bank can feed the camera through the housing, extending record time well beyond the internal battery for long-format work and locked-off cinema setups.

Lighting

The NA-R6V is a video-focused housing: flash triggering and X-sync for still shooting are not supported. Underwater cinematographers light with continuous video lights, and the housing provides an extensive set of mounting points for them, including sixteen 1/4-20 UNC points and an M10 thread on the front top for mounting balls, plus three 1/4-20 UNC points and six M5 points on the base for tripod plates, skids, and strobe mounting balls.

Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System

The NA-R6V ships with a built-in moisture alarm and leak detector, powered by a pre-installed CR-2032 battery, that warns of water intrusion before it reaches the camera. Paired with the optional 25625 M16 Vacuum Valve II, the housing also monitors the vacuum seal, confirming a watertight assembly on the boat and holding that assurance through the dive. The electronics are temperature compensated, so a warming camera or changing water temperature will not set off a false alarm.

SPECIFICATIONS

Product code: 17346
Compatible camera: Canon EOS R6 V
Dimensions (housing only): 358mm (W) × 201mm (H) × 134mm (D)
Weight in air: 2.96 kg
Buoyancy in water: Neutral (includes camera and battery)
Depth rating: 100m
Accessory ports: Front M24 × 1 and M16 × 1; rear M16 × 1
Handles and stabilizing brackets: Pre-installed
HDMI support: HDMI 1.4 / 2.0
Port system: N120 RF Mount II (for C50 / R6III / R6V) — view port chart
Compatible lenses: RF lenses with RF Lens Gear System II (PN 19630–19648)
Main O-ring: 90137 Housing O-ring (I.D. 170mm, C.S. 2.5mm)

Main Features

N120 Auto Lock Port System II (International Patent Pending)
Dual-function lens control knob for zoom and focus, switched by the lever below (Patent Pending)
MIL handles with Rotary Housing Lock
AF-ON lever on the rear right side, Playback lever on the rear left side
Flash trigger or X-sync for still shooting is unsupported
Moisture alarm and leak detector system

Mounting Points

Front top: 16x 1/4-20 UNC (for 17959 mounting ball), 1x M10 thread hole
Bottom: 3x 1/4-20 UNC (for tripod plate or skids), 6x M5 mounting points (#25218 mounting ball set)

WHAT’S IN THE BOX

NA-R6V Housing
Housing Cap
2x Handles with mounting balls and 2x handle brackets
Panasonic CR-2032 Battery (pre-installed for moisture alarm)
Spare main O-ring, O-ring remover and lubricant
Set of Allen Keys
Padded housing bag and shoulder strap

RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES

Part numbers below link to each item on nauticam.com.
