{"id":576861,"date":"2026-07-31T08:53:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T08:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/576861\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T08:53:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T08:53:10","slug":"clueless-sequel-starring-alicia-silverstone-in-the-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/576861\/","title":{"rendered":"Clueless sequel starring Alicia Silverstone in the works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ugh, as if we&#8217;ve had to wait this long for a sequel to one of our favourite films of the 90s: Clueless.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 1995 film, loosely adapted from Jane Austen&#8217;s Emma, follows Cher Horowitz (<a href=\"https:\/\/extra.ie\/2021\/06\/09\/entertainment\/movies-tv\/alicia-silverstone-tiktok-clueless-scene-ugh-as-if\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Alicia Silverstone<\/a>), a &#8216;beautiful, popular, wealthy&#8217; high school student who wants to do &#8216;good deeds&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clueless culminated in the best way possible for us soppy romance fans; she ends up with the man of her dreams, Josh Lucas (who&#8217;s actually her former stepbrother&#8230; let&#8217;s overlook that part).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/shutterstock_editorial_5883440w-NN.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1966023\"  \/>Pic: REX<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite seeing initial gangbuster success and becoming a cult-classic film, Clueless was never greenlit for a sequel \u2014 until now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we are, <a href=\"https:\/\/evoke.ie\/2025\/02\/25\/entertainment\/where-are-the-cast-of-clueless\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">31 years later<\/a>, and Clueless has been picked up by Paramount+ as a limited series, with filming slated to begin in LA next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the moment we&#8217;ve all been waiting for&#8230; Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as Beverly Hills it-girl Cher.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/shutterstock_editorial_5883440t.jpg\" alt=\"Brittany Murphy, Alicia Silverstone in Clueless - 1995. Pic: Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alicia will also serve as an executive producer on the sequel, much like Reese Witherspoon on <a href=\"https:\/\/evoke.ie\/2026\/05\/06\/entertainment\/legally-blonde-tv-spin-off\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Legally Blonde spin-off series Elle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The general concept has remained the same, picking up over 30 years after the events of the original film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three decades down the line, Cher has figured out a lot: She&#8217;s successful in business and has mastered motherhood- that is, until her daughter&#8217;s high school years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/shutterstock_editorial_5883440p.jpg\" alt=\"Alicia Silverstone in Clueless - 1995.
