EastEnders has seen Nicola Mitchell turning to her family at a difficult time, leaving fans convinced that her sister Gemma might soon arrive to the Square to offer her some much-needed support. <\/p>\n

Tonight’s (30 July) episode kicked off with Nicola asking her son Harry for help with George Knight, who was being very vocal about having “killed” his father by watching on as he choked to death.<\/p>\n

After rescuing a drunken George, Nicola gave her partner a piece of her mind, telling him off for blabbing about his part in Eddie’s death to Eve Panesar-Unwin, with whom she has an ongoing feud<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now knowing about George “killing” Eddie, Eve had some leverage<\/a> to obtain the footage of her attacking Nicola at Harry’s Barn. Eve shared the new information with wife Suki, with the couple hoping that Nicola would finally stop blackmailing them.<\/p>\n

Later on, George and Nicola had a heart to heart, opening up about their respective struggles with abusive parents. In the heartbreaking scene, Nicola shared that her father abused her and her mother “until the day he died” and that her mum blamed her for it.<\/p>\n

“You know… there’s other things I haven’t told you,” she began.<\/p>\n

“My mum blamed me… before and after he died,” she added. “It’s easier, I guess, you know? Blaming your gobby daughter rather than the man you loved.”

Nicola teared up as she told George she didn’t want to have her guard up with him. In a sweet moment, she assured him he would never turn out like his father, with George breaking down as they embraced.<\/p>\n

Nicola then called at Eve and Suki’s for damage control, insisting George was drunk and got carried away.
<\/p>\n

“Sounded like he was telling the truth to me,” Eve replied, offering to keep quiet in exchange for Nicola deleting the CCTV recording of the attack. Defeated, Nicola caved to Eve’s request and even apologised to Suki for her nasty comments about her late son.<\/p>\n

“You know, Eddie Knight… he really was the worst of men,” Nicola told the couple before heading out, with Eve agreeing: “I would happily spit on his grave if that’s any consolation.”<\/p>\n

In the final scenes, Nicola proved she still had some tricks up her sleeve as she rang her sister Gemma.<\/p>\n

“Is it a crime to think about my sister?” Nicola cheerfully said on the phone, but her expression confirmed she was up to something.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fans expect to see Gemma reunite with Nicola soon after the character has only been referenced off-screen so far.<\/p>\n

On Twitter\/X, viewers have been praising the storyline involving Nicola against Eve and Suki, with one person commenting<\/a> on Gemma’s involvement: “Nicola calling Gemma, I really hope we get to meet her soon”.<\/p>\n

A second fan shared their thoughts on Nicola’s honest chat with George, writing<\/a>: “I really hope this leads to the arrival of Nicola’s sister Gemma or her mother at some stage in the future.”<\/p>\n

Another viewer praised Nicola actor Laura Doddington for today’s “spectacular” performance, adding<\/a>: “I’m convinced more than ever now that Gemma is arriving soon.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast. <\/p>\n
