The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it struck two tankers under US \u201cair escort\u201d that attempted to pass the strait of Hormuz, according to state media.<\/p>\n

In a statement carried by Iran\u2019s semi-official Fars news agency, the IRGC said: In the early hours of today, two rogue tankers, under the mistaken belief they could pass [the strait of Hormuz] under the air escort of the child-killing US military, disregarded our warnings and proceeded along an unsafe and illegal path, whereupon they were struck and brought to a halt. <\/p>\n

It added that four other tankers \u201cswiftly changed course\u201d and returned to their previous location. The US military did not immediately comment on the claim. <\/p>\n

UN-backed body claims \u2018full readiness\u2019 to govern Gaza<\/p>\n

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NACG) claimed it is fully ready to assume governance of the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

The committee said it has completed \u201cextensive institutional and operational preparations\u201d to take over the running of the area and to \u201crestore essential public services, strengthen the rule of law, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and lead recovery and reconstruction efforts\u201d.<\/p>\n

The body, which authorised by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, said the success of the process \u201cdepends first and foremost on Palestinian national partnership\u201d.<\/p>\n

German foreign minister Johann Wadephul has welcomed a phased disarmament \u200bagreement in Gaza but said it was now key that \u200creal \u200cprogress \u200bwas made and \u2060Hamas \u200bactually disarms.<\/p>\n

Hamas officials say the group will hand over its weapons to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a new body established by the Board of Peace to oversee day-to-day affairs in the Palestinian territory.<\/p>\n

US and Board of Peace officials have briefed outlets that the disarmament agreement will not be implemented immediately.<\/p>\n

Details of the deal would have to be refined over the next couple of weeks, they have said, with progress expected in the coming month or two.<\/p>\n

Trump said the parties had entered into a \u201chistoric agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza\u201d, in a post on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

He described it as a \u201cmonumental step\u201d towards a lasting peace in the region and towards Gaza being governed by a new Palestinian government, which will work closely with the Board of Peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n
