A woman in her 70s remains in a critical condition following a serious two-car collision in Ballyshannon last weekend.<\/p>\n

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene of the collision, which occurred at the Erne Roundabout in Coolcholly at around 10pm on Saturday 25th July 2026.<\/p>\n

The woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where she continues to receive treatment.<\/p>\n

Two other passengers travelling in the same vehicle were taken by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital with injuries understood to be non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n

The driver and two passengers in the second car were also brought to Sligo University Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed have confirmed that a man was arrested at the scene and has since been released pending analysis of a sample by the Medical Bureau of Road Safety.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed yesterday issued an appeal for witnesses<\/a> to the collision to come forward.<\/p>\n

They are particularly interested in speaking to road users who were travelling near the Erne Roundabout between 9.45pm and 10pm and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings.<\/p>\n
