Choosin&#8217; Texas is the instant country classic that&#8217;s breaking chart records in the US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THERE\u2019S A NEW sheriff in town and she\u2019s now a record 15 weeks on top of Billboard\u2019s Top 100 singles charts in the US.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Choosin\u2019 Texas by Ella Langley has brought the country single not only into the mainstream but now alongside some of the biggest names in US music.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 15-week milestone is a significant one for the 27-year-old singer because it means she\u2019s surpassed records set by Whitney Houston\u2019s I Will Always Love You and Mariah Carey\u2019s We Belong Together.<\/p>\n<p>These classics spent 14 weeks topping the charts and until now held the record for non-holiday singles by a solo female artist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only Mariah Carey\u2019s All I Want for Christmas Is You (22 weeks) is ahead of Langley\u2019s record if you include seasonal songs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why the success?<\/p>\n<p>Well, Choosin\u2019 Texas is described as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/ella-langley-choosin-texas-top-songwriters-weigh-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cinstant country heartbreak classic\u2019\u2019<\/a> by leading country songwriter Ashley Gorley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Its impact is heightened by what has been described as Langley\u2019s \u201cauthentic performance\u201d style.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785517269_340_.jpeg\"  alt=\"\" class=\"alignleft inline-image\" \/><br \/>\n            Langely wins Song of the Year and Single of the Year for Choosin&#8217; Texas at The 61st Academy of Country Music Awards.                    LAGetty<\/p>\n<p>    LAGetty\n<\/p>\n<p>Written by Langley and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert, the song follows a simple premise about losing a partner when they return to their home state.<\/p>\n<p>Asked why the record was such a hit, Langley told Billboard, \u201cI don\u2019t know. I really don\u2019t\u201d, but she suggested that the song had a nostalgic feel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried to add some groove into this record, big singing choruses and big melodic guitar licks that you can remember. I don\u2019t know if it feels nostalgic or sounds like something they hadn\u2019t heard before\u201d, she told the magazine.<\/p>\n<p>    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@ellalangleyvevo4715\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">youtube <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Raised in Alabama, Langley began performing locally before moving to Tennessee in 2019 to pursue music full-time.<\/p>\n<p>She signed a record deal with\u00a0Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records in 2023 after debuting at The Grand Ole Opry, a historic country music venue in Nashville.<\/p>\n<p>Langley first gained widespread recognition with her debut album Hungover in 2024, which featured fellow country star Riley Green.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The duet between Langley and Green,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0y5Ex8oQ8zCH5TQxHUy1Eo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">You<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0y5Ex8oQ8zCH5TQxHUy1Eo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u00a0Look Like You Love Me<\/a> gained over 250 million streams worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Choosin\u2019 Texas is the lead single on Langley\u2019s latest album Dandelion which mixes country with moments of folk and pop.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to People Magazine on the album\u2019s release, Langley described the songs\u00a0as return to her southern roots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted them to come back and learn a little bit about where I\u2019m from\u201d, she said<\/p>\n<p>A record-breaking era for country music<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785517270_921_.jpeg\"  alt=\"gettyimages-2268551070-594x594\" class=\"alignnone inline-image\" \/><br \/>\n            Ella Langley with Taylor Swift and fellow country singer Lainey Wilson at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
