However, when Richard finds one of his father\u2019s journals, he discovers that there is an entrance in the farmyard where the spirit of nature can enter the real world.<\/p>\n This leads to Richard beginning an archaeological dig where the journal suggests the entrance can be found. During the dig, Richard uncovers the bones of a hare and takes them home to his study. <\/p>\n A strange organic material begins growing on the bones, and soon enough, it is a living, breathing hare. Jules begins to form an attachment to the animal, and starts looking upon it as her child. <\/p>\n The film, which is the second feature from writer\/director and BAFTA nominee Daniel Kokotajlo, is based on the novel by Andrew Michael Hurley and currently has a score of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n Getty Images<\/p>\n Related: Daniel Craig’s “remarkable” ’50s-set drama with Lesley Manville is leaving the BBC very soon<\/a><\/p>\n However, there\u2019s mixed reactions from viewers, with one person writing in their review<\/a>: \u201cA stunning throwback feature grounded by two compelling leads, but one too narratively and thematically sparse to make much of an impact.\u201d<\/p>\n Another agreed, writing: \u201cApart from some splendid effects work and a bravura score from Matthew Herbert, Kokotajlo\u2019s film ultimately comes up short\u201d, while someone else described the movie as \u201cdelirious\u201d.<\/p>\n Starve Acre will premiere on BBC Two on Friday 18 September. Other films making their debut as part of the British Film Premiere season include Chuck Chuck Baby, Hoard, and Silent Roar.<\/p>\n British Film Premiere <\/a>will present a brand-new premiere each Friday night of the season on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, starting Friday 31 July.
