Anaheim Broadcasting Corporation\u2019s KCAL-FM 96.7 Riverside\/San Bernardino will shift to an \u201cAll Music, All the Time\u201d classic rock format on Saturday (Aug. 1), expanding the station\u2019s musical focus while reducing on-air interruptions.<\/p>\n
The Inland Empire station says in a news release that the revamped format will feature a broader selection of classic rock, with an emphasis on the songs and artists associated with the genre across multiple generations.<\/p>\n
The change positions KCAL as a more music-focused station, with fewer interruptions throughout the day. The station said the approach is intended to provide a consistent classic rock sound while building on KCAL\u2019s longtime presence in Southern California\u2019s Inland Empire.<\/p>\n
\u201cKCAL has a longstanding history in the Inland Empire, and this next chapter builds on the station\u2019s strong rock heritage,\u201d says Kelly Sanders, COO of Anaheim Broadcasting. \u201cWe rebuilt KCAL around the music our listeners grew up on \u2014 the songs and the artists that made classic rock \u2014 and we built it right here at home. KCAL will deliver a focused, consistent listening experience with broader appeal for both our audience and advertising partners.\u201d<\/p>\n
The format change also gives Anaheim Broadcasting two distinct music brands targeting adult listeners in the Inland Empire. KCAL\u2019s classic rock programming will operate alongside sister station KOLA-FM\u2019s (99.9) classic hits format.<\/p>\n
The company said the differentiation between the stations will provide advertisers with two options for reaching established adult consumers across the region.<\/p>\n
