Thousands of supporters turned out in Ballaghaderreen last Thursday to celebrate the All-Ireland success of local man, Mayo manager Andy Moran, and his team.<\/p>\n
Large crowds congregated on the Square in the town 75 years after another Ballaghaderreen man, the late Sean Flanagan, last brought the Sam Maguire to the town as team captain.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering on Thursday, Andy Moran said \u201cwe\u2019re very proud\u201d of the town and \u201cthe Ballaghaderreen players are so proud to represent all the people who are here tonight\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started playing senior with Mayo in 2003. I was captain, we dreamt of this moment for so, so long. We were here with Johno (the late John O\u2019Mahony) in \u201989. Gerardine (O\u2019Mahony) had on the door \u2013 \u2018Keep the faith\u2019. We drove by the door, she said: \u2018We kept the faith\u2019 and now we are All-Ireland champions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Moran paid tribute to the contribution of Ballaghaderreen GAA Club. \u201cWe keep producing county footballers. It\u2019s something that we really need to be proud of.
