Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United<\/a> are \u201cconvinced\u201d that JJ Gabriel is a \u201cgem\u201d, as he became the youngest ever player to turn out for the Red Devils\u2019 first team.<\/p>\n

JJ Gabriel<\/a> made his Man Utd first-team debut against Atletico Madrid at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

At the age of 15, the teenager became the youngest ever player to feature for the Man Utd<\/a> first team, although it came in an unofficial capacity.<\/p>\n

JJ Gabriel trained regularly with the Man Utd first team last season, but the forward was ineligible to play for Michael Carrick\u2019s side in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

That was because JJ Gabriel turned 15 in October 2025.<\/p>\n

According to the rules, a player cannot feature in the Premier League if they turned 15 after the start of September in a given season.<\/p>\n

The youngster, though, can play for Man Utd in the Premier League during the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n

After the match against Atletico, which Man Utd won 2-1, Carrick said about JJ Gabriel and Jim Thwaites coming on as substitutes, as quoted by The Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler on X: \u201cJimmy and JJ coming on are two younger players again.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey had a first taste of it for us, so it\u2019s great for me to be in a position to give the opportunities to the boys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Praise for Man Utd talent JJ Gabriel<\/p>\n

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has revealed that internally Man Utd believe that the 15-year-old is \u201ca gem\u201d.<\/p>\n

Romano posted on X<\/a> at 4:49pm on August 1: \u201cJJ Gabriel made his first team debut for Manchester United in unofficial game, the youngest ever.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael Carrick: \u2018I\u2019m happy to give a chance to young talents, they deserve it\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201c#MUFC convinced they have a gem in their hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

Man Utd defender Leny Yoro<\/a> has also been hugely impressed with JJ Gabriel.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News<\/a> has quoted Yoro as saying about the teenager: \u201cHe\u2019s a really good player.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill really young, still a lot to learn, a lot to improve.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s really humble, still working, so I\u2019m happy for him to get his first minutes, so I hope for him it\u2019s going to continue like that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can see myself.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I would say] stay humble, just want to work, and this is what we need in the team, even for the young guys.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re all doing really well, and JJ is one of them, so I hope he\u2019s going to learn a lot, continue like that, improve, yeah.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he\u2019s really good, a good player.\u201d<\/p>\n
