ROMANTIC SYMPHONY should be extremely tough to beat if able to replicate an excellent Listed second in France recently. The Dubawi filly is clearly the one to pass on the figures, as she receives a hefty 10lb from her elders. She is officially 5lb ahead of her nearest pursuer and is completely unexposed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I am delighted that G1 Sussex Stakes-winning jockey, Billy Loughnane, takes the ride, a clear indication that a big performance is anticipated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

MIRSKY is a big player in Thirsk\u2019s feature race, as a track-and-trip winner who saves his best form for this Yorkshire venue. I adore the long straight here, where a strong-travelling horse is often rewarded. Step forward this son of Siyouni, who has kept lofty company recently.<\/p>\n

A seventh placing at Royal Ascot was a mighty performance, prior to a downfield run in a strong Sandown handicap. This is an easier assignment, and I expect him to be firmly in contention when it matters the most.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

FANDOM is one of the more interesting each-way contenders for this season\u2019s prestigious Stewards\u2019 Cup Handicap, run over the 6f distance. The son of Showcasing has shown winning form over 6f this season, and he\u2019s been largely progressive, including a keeping-on third at Ascot over 5f last time out.<\/p>\n

The move back to 6f, at this speedy course, could ideally suit. The Richard Hannon-trained runner was a Listed winner in the US and could be peaking at the right time this week. Watch out for him late on the scene, at a juicy each-way price.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m hoping that Halloween comes early at Goodwood on Saturday. GHOST MODE returns to seven furlongs for the first time this season, which may prove to be a catalyst for improvement. The Andrew Balding-trained Ghaiyyath colt had form figures of 3,2,1,2 over this trip last year, which included three placings on downhill courses.<\/p>\n

A sixth last time was a step in the right direction, and I\u2019m hopeful that the distance switch, coupled with a downhill circuit, can provide an upturn in form. I\u2019ll certainly be giving it a big \u201cWoooo\u201d if he wins.<\/p>\n
