Richard Gere welcomed his son, Homer Gere, in 2000<\/p>\n

The look-alike father-son duo have attended many sports games and work events together over the years<\/p>\n

Homer has always looked up to his dad<\/p>\n

Richard Gere<\/a>‘s son Homer Gere<\/a> is the spitting image of his dad.<\/p>\n

Homer was born to parents Richard and Carey Lowell<\/a> on Feb. 6, 2000. Richard is also dad to sons Alexander and James with his wife Alejandra Silva<\/a> and a stepfather to her son, Albert, from a previous relationship.<\/p>\n

Growing up, Homer always looked up to his dad \u2014 and he still does. As Homer builds his acting career, Richard has given him immeasurable advice on “how to carry yourself on set” and “how to make an acting career work in a way that’s sustainable,” he exclusively told PEOPLE in July 2026, ahead of the premiere of his FX show <\/a>The Shards<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He continued, “And for that, he’s been the most invaluable resource<\/a>. I mean, truly better than I could possibly hope for, from anyone.”<\/p>\n

On April 29, 2001, the duo was spotted in New York City’s Central Park wearing similar baseball caps and brown-and-gray outfits. Richard held Homer in his lap while sitting on a motorized cart as they arrived for a “Kids for Kids” Carnival hosted by The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.<\/p>\n

“When I was a kid, Chicago was my favorite,” Homer told PEOPLE of the musical comedy in July. “I had the Chicago songs that he sang on my iPod because I had a little separation anxiety on the school bus.”<\/p>\n

Over the years, Richard has opened up about how proud he is of Homer, whose acting r\u00e9sum\u00e9 includes The Shards, Euphoria<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n

“One, he’s really good<\/a>. He really kind of preternaturally knows what he’s doing. But he’s also handling it really well. He’s a good kid,” Richard told PEOPLE in June 2026. “He’s a really good young man who kind of gets it, and this is not an easy job. Not everyone can function within it. So I think he can stay.”<\/p>\n

He continued, “I still need to see his second episode of Euphoria, but he has this big thing coming up with Ryan Murphy<\/a>, and he just finished shooting a film with Oliver Stone<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

The Pretty Woman<\/a> star then joked, “So I can retire now. I’m passing the torch.”<\/p>\n
