{"id":580263,"date":"2026-08-02T12:32:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T12:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/580263\/"},"modified":"2026-08-02T12:32:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T12:32:08","slug":"donald-trump-expected-to-visit-dublin-and-clare-during-trip-to-ireland-next-month-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/580263\/","title":{"rendered":"Donald Trump expected to visit Dublin and Clare during trip to Ireland next month \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">US president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s visit to Ireland next month is expected to include engagements in Dublin as well as attendance at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/irish-open\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/irish-open\/\">Irish Open<\/a> golf tournament at his resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Government has been making preparations for the visit, which will involve a significant security operation and is likely to attract protests. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Irish Times understands that Trump is expected to arrive in Ireland on September 12th, allowing him to be in the United States for the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on that country. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Irish Open is scheduled to take place between September 9th and 13th. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Trump, a keen golfer, is to visit Doonbeg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a recorded video message played at the US ambassador\u2019s Independence Day celebrations at his residence in the Phoenix Park in Dublin last month, Trump said: \u201cYou know, I have a beautiful place over there, it\u2019s one of the best, most beautiful golf courses anywhere in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He added: \u201cWe have a place that\u2019s so top, and we have the Irish Open going to be there and we\u2019re going to have a tremendous celebration. I think I\u2019m going to come over and I think I\u2019m going to see it and we\u2019re going to watch Rory [McIlroy] and all the great players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Trump is also expected to have engagements in Dublin during his visit including a likely meeting with Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin and a potential meeting with President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/catherine-connolly\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/catherine-connolly\/\">Catherine Connolly<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Donald Trump at his Doonbeg course in 2023.
