The Galway Ladies Footballers bridged a 22 year gap to win just their second All-Ireland title, defeating Kerry by 2-7 to 0-12 in Croke Park on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The sides were deadlocked at 1-4 to 0-7 at half time, with Leanne Coen’s exceptional goal after a lengthy solo run on 14 minutes kept Daniel Moynihan’s side on level terms. Kerry led by two points coming down the stretch, but another strike from Coen on 54 minutes put the Tribeswomen in front. Caoimhe Evans equalised for Kerry but a heroic point from Kilkerrin-Clonberne’s Eva Noone was to be the decisive score.<\/p>\n
A Kerry free with the final kick of the game dropped into the goal but referee Maggie Farrelly gave a free out for a square ball and the full time whistle was met with jubilant celebrations.<\/p>\n
