A brand new Emmerdale<\/a> trailer teasing Dawn Fletcher and Joe Tate’s wedding<\/a> shows fans a glimpse of the explosive events set to take place. Their relationship has been put under strain in recent weeks, with Dawn realising she still harbours feelings for her ex Billy Fletcher<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Her lingering attraction saw her react badly to his new relationship with Gabby Thomas<\/a>, going as far as to attempt to cause issues between the pair<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Things went from bad to worse when Billy tried to kiss Dawn<\/a>, who pulled away just as Joe returned to Home Farm.<\/p>\n

The road to the altar is set to be “paved with tension”, with show bosses promising that the day will end in “tragedy and consequences”.<\/p>\n

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said in a statement: “The run-up to Dawn and Joe\u2019s wedding will be far from straightforward but the week of the wedding is even more dramatic! <\/p>\n

“The day will end in tragedy with the consequences having ramifications that will impact the villagers’ lives for years to come.”<\/p>\n

Following Billy and Dawn’s almost-kiss, Joe began acting strangely, calling an impromptu family meal to extend an olive branch to Gabby, but his loved ones soon began questioning his motives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The drama escalated when Billy was brutally attacked<\/a>, and he remains in hospital in a coma, though alive.<\/p>\n

Suspicion has fallen on Joe, and though he has been released from police custody<\/a>, Dawn remains in turmoil, desperate to believe her fianc\u00e9 had nothing to do with the brutal assault. <\/p>\n

Tomorrow’s episode of the ITV soap will see Dawn shocked to learn that doctors intend to bring Billy out of his coma.<\/p>\n

She is clinging to hope that he will identify his attacker, hoping that he doesn’t point the finger at Joe.<\/p>\n

However, Joe’s stoic attitude towards the development leaves everyone questioning his involvement and what really happened. <\/p>\n

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a recent Emmerdale press day, Shaw teased: “Obviously the run-up to Joe and Dawn’s wedding is far from smooth! It’s going to be really dramatic, as there’s lots going on.<\/p>\n

“Then the wedding week itself is going to be even more dramatic, let’s face it! We’ve literally just finished filming it and it’s really exciting.”<\/p>\n

She added: “What I can tell you is that it’s going to be one of the biggest weeks of the year for Emmerdale. It’s a week of episodes that are going to be full of heartbreak.<\/p>\n

“It’s typical Emmerdale. But think stunts, heartbreak, tragedy, twists, turns. It’s going to have it all. It’s going to be amazing.”<\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
