Coronation Street is bringing back a familiar face for their third role in the soap. Actress Emma Matthews has been cast as new character Kacey, a prison inmate who befriends Sarah Platt. <\/p>\n

If viewers think they’ve seen Emma before they’ll be right, as the actress appeared in the soap back in 2017 as social worker Fiona Crowley, who worked on the case of Abi Websters’ twins Charlie and Lexi Franklin.<\/p>\n

Emma also appeared as a nurse in Weatherfield General between 2012 and 2015.<\/p>\n

Spoilers for next week<\/a> have revealed that Sarah will be having a rough time behind bars as her relationship with Kit Green<\/a> falls apart. <\/p>\n

Sarah, who is awaiting trail for Theo Silverton’s murder<\/a>, has decided to end her relationship with the copper, for the sake of his career. <\/p>\n

“Sarah knows that Kit has stood by her, but at a huge cost,” points out our cobbles spy. “His career is on the line as it is not a good look for a detective to have a partner in the nick.<\/p>\n

“She did the crime and now it looks certain Sarah will be doing some significant time, so the only thing she can do to prove how much she loves Kit is to finish with him \u2013 and give him a chance at the happy future they once envisioned together.”<\/p>\n

But what Sarah didn’t count on is Jodie Ramsey moving in on Kit as soon as he becomes single.<\/p>\n

Things then get even worse for Sarah when she’s attacked by other inmates, But she does get a glimmer of hope when she’s befriended by Kacey, who reveals that everyone knows she was dating a policeman. <\/p>\n

Kacey promises to protect Sarah but can she be trusted?<\/p>\n

“Sarah is a desperate woman and she’s in grave danger,” our insider added. “Kacey is her only hope right now and Sarah’s so grateful for her, especially when Kacey offers to look out for her. <\/p>\n

“But it’s rare for people to do these sorts of favours in prison without an ulterior motive, so Sarah may find that Kacey is too good to be true.” <\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
