Russian <\/a>strikes \u200ckilled 15 \u200bpeople, injured another 42 \u200band damaged \u2060a number \u200cof \u200cwarehouses \u200bin \u2060the region \u200bsurrounding \u200bUkraine\u2019s<\/a> \u200ccapital \u200bKyiv overnight, \u2060the emergency \u2060service \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n

The attack was the latest in a series of large-scale Russian ballistic missile strikes that have become near-routine this summer.<\/p>\n

Kyiv\u2019s military administration said the barrage damaged residential buildings and several warehouses: \u201cThe enemy is once again deliberately striking civilians and civilian infrastructure.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ukraine has a limited stockpile of interceptor missiles for the US-made Patriot systems, the sole air defence system in its arsenal able to shoot down ballistic missiles, making large volleys like Wednesday\u2019s hard to stop, even as Ukraine has stepped up deep strikes on Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

In the wider Kyiv region around the capital, 14 people were killed and 27 wounded, with fires at multiple locations in Brovary, Bucha and Fastiv districts, Ukraine\u2019s emergence service said.<\/p>\n

Large warehouse fires burned in the city of Brovary and the villages of Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve and Peremoha.<\/p>\n

A fire involving vehicles at an enterprise in Fastiv district was extinguished.<\/p>\n

In Bucha district, crews battled a warehouse fire in the village of Chaiky after putting out a separate fire at a logistics facility in Sofiivska Borshchahivka.<\/p>\n

In the capital, one person was killed and 15 were wounded, and emergency crews extinguished all fires sparked by the strikes in the Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi and Desnianskyi districts, the Kyiv City Military Administration said.<\/p>\n

Russia said it hit \u200clogistic hubs and \u200bsupply centres in \u200bKyiv and \u2060the surrounding region, arguing \u200bthat \u200cthose were used for \u200bmilitary purposes.<\/p>\n

It \u2060has \u2060also \u200bhit three cargo vessels near the Black \u200cSea port of \u2060Odesa, the \u200cRussian \u200cdefence \u200bministry said \u2060on \u200bTelegram.<\/p>\n

Ukraine \u2060accused Russia<\/a> of committing a war \u2060crime after a \u200bvideo was released showing a drone chasing down a street vendor and exploding in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.<\/p>\n

Police said the man in his 50s survived but suffered shock and shrapnel \u2060injuries, having dived under the vehicle for shelter.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone \u2018safari\u2019 Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson,\u201d said Volodymyr \u200bZelenskiy<\/a>, Ukraine\u2019s president. \u201cWe must act and support life in ways that force Russia to think seriously about peace rather than expanding \u200cthe range of its drones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said the attack happened on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Sybiha said the attack formed part of a deliberate Russian campaign to intimidate civilians. \u201cThis barbaric Russian war crime in Kherson demands international condemnation and justice, but thousands of similar crimes never come to the public eye.\u201d He said the \u201csadist\u201d pilot of the Russian drone would have known the target was a civilian.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck logistics centres across Russia including several run \u2060by online retailer Wildberries, local officials said. <\/p>\n

Wildberries said its \u200bwarehouse near St Petersburg \u200ccaught fire \u200cwith no casualties. <\/p>\n

In the Tver \u200cregion, about 180km northwest of Moscow, a Wildberries facility was damaged by drones in the rural area of Emmaus. <\/p>\n

In the Moscow region, \u200ca drone attack on the city of Chekhov set \u200ba warehouse alight and killed five people in the Novoselki industrial zone. <\/p>\n
