{"id":584247,"date":"2026-08-05T19:32:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T19:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584247\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T19:32:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T19:32:13","slug":"spandau-ballet-star-and-son-bringing-a-true-taste-of-cork-gold-to-british-screens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584247\/","title":{"rendered":"Spandau Ballet star and son bringing a true taste of Cork gold to British screens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Celebrity father-and-son duo Martin and Roman Kemp are set to experience Ireland\u2019s legends, landscapes and locals in a new three-part series, &#8216;Martin and Roman\u2019s Irish Road Trip.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Martin Kemp, the English actor and musician best known as the bassist for 1980s new wave band Spandau Ballet and for playing the villain Steve Owen in  Eastenders.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">His son Roman Kemp is a radio DJ and television presenter, while both he and his father have participated in reality TV shows including  I\u2019m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The new series, which starts airing on Channel 4 next Monday,\u00a0 August 10, is co-produced by Tourism Ireland and Rock Oyster Media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Tourism Ireland is the organisation responsible for promoting the island of Ireland overseas as a leading holiday destination, as an agency of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment in Ireland and the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5181997_4_articleinline_pic_201_20-_20MARTIN_20AND_20ROMAN_20KEMP_20ON_20SPIKE_20IRELAND_1_.jpg\" alt=\"Martin and Roman Kemp at Spike Island, during filming for their new Channel 4 series. \" title=\"Martin and Roman Kemp at Spike Island, during filming for their new Channel 4 series. \" class=\"card-img\"\/>Martin and Roman Kemp at Spike Island, during filming for their new Channel 4 series. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The journey begins in Cork, where the celebrity father-and-son duo explore the history of Spike Island, unravel the mystery of stone circles, and try their hand at kayaking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Commenting on his filming experience, Roman Kemp said: \u201cIt was an amazing place. Ireland as a whole was beautiful.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Martin Kemp added: \u201cI know from spending time there, it is such a beautiful place and the people are so lovely.
