{"id":584602,"date":"2026-08-06T03:52:28","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T03:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584602\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T03:52:28","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T03:52:28","slug":"mason-melia-signs-for-lincoln-city-on-season-long-loan-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584602\/","title":{"rendered":"Mason Melia signs for Lincoln City on season-long loan \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ireland striker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mason-melia\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mason-melia\/\">Mason Melia<\/a> has signed for Lincoln City on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The 18-year-old will join fellow Irishmen Josh Honohan and James Collins at the club, who got promoted to the Championship last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Melia joined Tottenham earlier this year from St Patrick\u2019s Athletic in a deal reported to be \u20ac2 million up front, rising to \u20ac4 million with add-ons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for Tottenham, but he has two caps for the Republic of Ireland senior team, debuting in May in a friendly against Qatar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI\u2019m delighted to be here and get everything completed,\u201d he said. \u201cEveryone I\u2019ve met has been so welcoming, and I\u2019m excited to get going in the Championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThe ambition of the club really stood out to me. Our first conversation was a bit mad because we were trying to work around all the different time zones while I was in Australia, but once we got everyone together the presentation was unbelievable. It played a huge part in my decision to come here because it showed me the club\u2019s vision and what we can achieve together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIt made me feel really wanted, which is important as a footballer. I came away from that meeting buzzing. My aim is to score goals, help the team in every way I can and contribute to a successful season for the club.
