Now the app is cooking up something similar, but this time for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/cool-tech\/ai-chatbots-will-happily-create-fake-news-articles-and-tests-show-chatgpt-is-the-worst-at-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI-generated media<\/a>. The idea is to keep followers in the loop when a photo or video wasn\u2019t captured with a camera but conjured up by an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/best-ai-chatbots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI tool<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>How will the new AI label work?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wabetainfo.com\/whatsapp-is-testing-an-ai-content-label-for-channels\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">WaBetaInfo<\/a> spotted this feature brewing inside the WhatsApp beta for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/android\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Android<\/a>, version 2.26.31.1, currently available on the Google Play Store. Once it goes live, admins will be able to tap and hold an update containing AI-generated media to bring up the context menu, where a new \u201cAdd AI content label\u201d option will appear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1406\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-testing-AI-label-feature.jpeg\" alt=\"WhatsApp testing AI label feature\" class=\"wp-image-5995819\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\tWABetalnfo<\/p>\n<p>Tap it, and a visible tag gets attached to the message bubble so followers instantly know they\u2019re looking at AI-made content. Once the label is added, admins likely won\u2019t be able to remove it, so it pays to double-check before hitting share.<\/p>\n<p>Not everything needs the tag, though. Plain text messages, even ones drafted using WhatsApp\u2019s own Writing Help tool, seem to be exempt from this rule.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why do admins need this AI label?<\/p>\n<p>Turns out, it\u2019s not just about being a good digital citizen. Several countries now have laws that require apps to disclose AI-generated media, and this label gives admins a simple way to stay compliant without extra hassle. Best of all, it doesn\u2019t play favorites. Whether you made your image using Meta AI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/topic\/chatgpt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ChatGPT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/topic\/google-gemini\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gemini<\/a>, or literally any other tool, the label applies the same way.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1619\" height=\"971\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/meta-logo.jpg\" alt=\"meta-logo\" class=\"wp-image-5995811\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\tMeta<\/p>\n<p>For now, this feature is still baking in the Android beta, and testers don\u2019t have access to it just yet. WhatsApp is also working on bringing the same label to iOS, so it won\u2019t stay an Android exclusive for long.
