{"id":584892,"date":"2026-08-06T11:16:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584892\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T11:16:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:16:13","slug":"galway-electrical-wholesaler-wins-at-irelands-2026-aew-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/584892\/","title":{"rendered":"Galway electrical wholesaler wins at Ireland\u2019s 2026 AEW awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.galwaydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Michael-OFlaherty-and-Leo-Donovan-2-scaled.webp\" data-caption=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Michael-OFlaherty-and-Leo-Donovan-2-696x464.webp\"  data- alt=\"\" title=\"Michael O'Flaherty and Leo Donovan\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 696px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 696\/464;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Flaherty Markets Electrical Galway scooped the award for \u2018Best Performing Branch\u2019 for lighting recycling at Ireland\u2019s second Association of Electrical Wholesalers (AEW) awards in Dublin recently.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Ireland, the awards celebrated the best performers in lighting recycling across AEW\u2019s 130 members in Ireland last year.<\/p>\n<p>During 2025 AEW\u2019s 130 wholesalers took back a total of 473 tonnes of lamps, fittings, and luminaires.<\/p>\n<p>Flaherty Markets Electrical Galway was recognised for its green, sustainable business practices for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to be recognised for our commitment to recycling waste lighting from our customers,\u201d said Michael O\u2019Flaherty, Managing Director at Flaherty Markets Electrical Galway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award reaffirms our dedication to making a positive environmental impact and is a great boost for our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A total of 14 lighting recycling recognition awards were handed out across the six wholesale trade buying groups that form the AEW \u2013 CEF, EWL Electric, Fegime, IEBG, Kellihers and the Independents \u2013 with two awards presented per group for Best Performing Branch and Most Improved Branch.<\/p>\n<p>An additional two new awards were handed out for Best Performing Group and Best Performing Branch for \u2018WEEE Handling and Presentation\u201d, awarded by WEEE Ireland\u2019s recycling partner, Irish Lamps Recycling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recycling efforts of all of our winners deliver a really positive impact on the environment, so a big well done to all,\u201d said Leo Donovan, CEO, WEEE Ireland, as he presented the awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thanks to the Association of Electrical Wholesalers and its chair, Ken Legros, for their longstanding support of lighting recycling.
