It’s fair to say Android users have never had a real AirTag equivalent. While Google launched its Find My Device network in 2024, before rebranding it as Find Hub in 2025, years of teething issues have held the network back, and its underwhelming selection of compatible Bluetooth trackers hasn’t exactly helped matters.<\/p>\n

Now, Google might finally be about to put Android users out of their misery by launching a first-party AirTag-style tracker of its own. Late last week, 9to5Google spotted<\/a> a retailer listing for a Bluetooth tracker called the Google Pixel Tag, along with an image of the device.<\/p>\n

From the leaked image, the Pixel Tag appears to have a pebble-like design, although it doesn’t seem to have a keyring hole for easy attachment to your keys. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 (\u00a315.60, Amazon.co.uk<\/a>), but taller. It will reportedly come in a grey \u201cfog light\u201d colourway.<\/p>\n

In a now-deleted listing from a Slovenian retailer seen by 9to5Google, the Pixel Tag is described as a \u201ccompact, lightweight and durable smart tracker that attaches discreetly to your most important items\u201d. It also says the tracker uses Google’s Find My Device network to pinpoint the location of your belongings.<\/p>\n

The listing also says that the Pixel Tag is equipped with a loudspeaker to help you find nearby items and is designed with your privacy and personal data in mind. It isn’t clear whether it supports ultra-wideband (UWB) for precise turn-by-turn directions, similar to the AirTag, or whether it uses a replaceable battery.<\/p>\n

According to a report<\/a> from French news outlet Dealabs, the Pixel Tag will cost \u20ac34.90 in Europe, putting it level with Apple’s \u20ac35 AirTag. If Google follows the same pricing elswhere, that could translate to a \u00a329 price tag in the UK.<\/p>\n

The outlet also claims the Pixel Tag will launch alongside the Pixel 11 at Google’s Made by Google event on 12 August. <\/p>\n

If the Pixel Tag does boast UWB, and Google can iron out some of Find Hub’s remaining quirks, Android users may finally have an AirTag of their own.<\/p>\n

\"MotoMoto Tag 2<\/p>\n

Right now, the best Android AirTag equivalent is the Moto Tag 2. Like the AirTag, it features UWB technology, so you can get precise turn-by-turn directions in an AR environment directly to your stuff using the Google Find Hub app. And unlike the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2, it works with all Android devices. <\/p>\n

The latest-generation model features Bluetooth 6.0, has IP68 dust and water resistance and lasts over 600 days using a replaceable coin cell battery. There\u2019s also a button on the top, which can ring your phone or take a picture remotely. <\/p>\n
