Susanne Sundf\u00f8r<\/a> has announced her new album \u2018Revelations Of Divine Love\u2019 with the ethereal single \u2018I It Am\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Norwegian singer-songwriter will return with her seventh studio album, which will land on October 2 via Bella Union (pre-order\/pre-save here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Sundf\u00f8r\u2019s new album will focus on \u201cher renewed understanding of love, inspired by becoming a mother of two and moving to the countryside in the time since her 2023 album \u2018bl\u00f3mi<\/a>,’\u201d according to a press release.<\/p>\n

Recorded with only a pipe organ and a voice live in a Norwegian church, Sundf\u00f8r\u2019s lyrics will be based on Grace Warrack\u2019s 1901 translation of \u2018Revelations of Divine Love\u2019. Written by 14th century mystic Julian of Norwich, it is the first known book written in English by a woman. The album was recorded BBC Jazz Award-winner Kit Downes.<\/p>\n

\u201cTraditionally, vocals accompanied by an organ are powerful and loud,\u201d said Sundf\u00f8r. \u201cI wanted the opposite \u2014 soft, whispered, as understated as possible. It\u2019s about authenticity, not perfection. It had to be playful and whimsical.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, we spoke to Sundf\u00f8r<\/a> about her album \u2018bl\u00f3mi\u2019. The R\u00f6yksopp<\/a> collaborator spoke to us about how the record was inspired by looking for hope amidst an increasingly divided society.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest danger is ourselves and our ability to have civilised conversations and keep trying to communicate across political realms,\u201d she told\u00a0NME.\u00a0\u201cPersonally, I\u2019ve fallen out with people because we\u2019ve had different opinions on political matters and I find that really sad.
