July was the busiest month in Dublin Airport’s history, according to operator daa, recording more than 3.8m passengers last month.

A total of 3,839,635 people travelled through the airport during the month, up 2.3 percent year-on-year.

Daa said July was typically the peak month for summer travel – however this year’s numbers were boosted by people travelling to North American for the FIFA World Cup.

The start of Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union also increased passenger numbers on some routes.

The rise in passenger numbers in July represented the 16th consecutive month of passenger growth at the airport.

It means close to 22m people have travelled through Dublin Airport since the start of 2026, up 5.2% year-on-year.

Last month the bill lifting passenger cap, which limited Dublin Airport’s passenger numbers to 32m per year, was signed into law.

However as the cap had been suspended by the High Court pending a legal challenge, it had not been a factor in the airport’s 2025 passenger numbers.

“On average, around 123,000 passengers walked through our doors every day of July,” said Gary McLean, managing director of Dublin Airport. “That’s the equivalent of one and a half times the capacity of Croke Park on All-Ireland final day passing through the airport in just one day, every day last month.

“This high level of traffic is now the norm during the peak summer period.”

However he said, despite this, the vast majority of passengers travelled through airport security in under 20 minutes.

“This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our Dublin Airport teams, with thousands of people working 24/7 across the airport campus to deliver a smooth, safe and welcoming experience for the almost four million passengers who travelled in July.”

July was the busiest month in Dublin Airport’s history, according to operator daa, recording more than 3.8m passengers…

[5
72,61,60
post-588837","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business","tag-business","tag-ie","tag-ireland
["GET
