There were 191,880 people on the Live Register in July, according to the Central Statistics Office.<\/p>\n
That represents an increase of 6,253 or 3.4% on July 2025.<\/p>\n
On a seasonally-adjusted basis, the Live Register figure stood at 174,500 last month, up 1,200 on June.<\/p>\n
According to the CSO, men made up just over 52% of claimants last month, while 73.4% were Irish.<\/p>\n
Around 10.7% of claimants were from other countries in the European Union, while roughly 3% were from the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
Those listed as nationals of other countries made up almost 13% of total claimants.<\/p>\n
The CSO said the vast majority of July claimants \u2013 137,103 (71.5%) – had been on the register for less than a year.<\/p>\n
It said people aged 25 to 34 made up the largest group on the register, representing almost a quarter of claimants.<\/p>\n
Wexford saw the biggest increase in claimants year-on-year \u2013 up 7.2% compared to July 2025. The number of Longford residents on the register rose by 6.2%.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile claimants based in Monaghan fell by 4.1%, while those registering with addresses in Clare fell 4%.<\/p>\n
The CSO statistics also included details of the numbers in Ireland benefitting from the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive \u2013 which largely relates to people from Ukraine.<\/p>\n
There were 11,488 such claimants in Ireland in July, according to the CSO, down 2.2% in the month and 6.4% lower year-on-year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There were 191,880 people on the Live Register in July, according to the Central Statistics Office.
