Pitt also questioned whether AI could replace actors (Esquire UK\/Chantal Anderson\/PA)<\/p>\nAmerican actor Brad Pitt has said he had \u201cone little period\u201d of having suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n
The 62-year-old Fight Club star said that after feeling that way his \u201csurvival instincts\u201d kicked in and stopped him, and added that he had not considered suicide before or since.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI was never suicidal in any way, it just was not my make-up. In fact, if I have any afflictions, it\u2019s probably being a congenital optimist, which has helped many times, and it\u2019s also gotten me, I\u2019ve walked foolishly head-on into a Mack truck because of my optimism.<\/p>\n
\u201cOr, as my forever-funny friend David Fincher will say, \u2018yeah, you see the glass as half full, but it\u2019s half full of urine\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyway, I\u2019ve never been suicidal except for one little period, and in that one little period, I just thought \u2014 I just couldn\u2019t \u2014 just didn\u2019t see a way out.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pain was so oppressive that I wasn\u2019t going to act on this, but I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the interview with Esquire magazine, Pitt said artificial intelligence (AI) would allow mid-budget films to be made and described the technology as a \u201cvery interesting experiment\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of pushback against AI, but AI is going to be the very thing that, if used as a tool, is going to help these mid-budget films, forty to ninety million dollar budgeted films, get made.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pitt was later told that AI had made a video of him fighting Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise which had been shared on social media, and was asked whether the technology could eventually replace actors.<\/p>\n
He replied: \u201cIt depends on who\u2019s creating it, you know? Who\u2019s behind it, who\u2019s telling the story, who\u2019s saying: \u2018I want to see this emotion from him\u2019, and then being able to mine through whatever AI provides and going \u2018more in this direction\u2019, and tailoring it in that way.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, they could, but the final product might not be my choices and what I found and discovered in the thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, it\u2019s going to be a very interesting experiment.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also spoke about being scanned in films \u201cfor the last 20 years\u201d and said he always puts it in his contract for films that he owns them.<\/p>\n

Pitt added: \u201cI destroy them, I should have kept them. All this time I\u2019ve always had them destroyed, because I\u2019m a paranoid Ozark boy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the interview, Pitt revealed bad acting \u201cdrives me crazy\u201d and added: \u201cIt\u2019s why I can\u2019t watch porn.\u201d<\/p>\n
Along with 1999\u2019s Fight Club, Pitt is known for films such as Thelma And Louise (1991), Seven (1995), Snatch (2000), The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008), Inglourious Basterds (2009), and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019).<\/p>\n
He has won two Oscars and two Bafta awards.<\/p>\n
