Two veterans of mobile banking firm\u00a0MoneyLion<\/a>\u00a0have launched\u00a0Astraeus<\/a>, an infrastructure platform for wealth management companies.<\/p>\n

The company\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0its launch last week, saying it comes as wealth management companies are trying to capitalize on artificial intelligence (AI) after years of running their businesses with a variety of different systems and tools.<\/p>\n

\u201cWealth management firms have spent years adding systems, workflows, and data sources to address specific needs,\u201d Astraeus Co-Founder and CEO\u00a0Phil Rosen<\/a> said in a news release.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe result is an industry operating on fragmented architecture that limits visibility, creates operational drag, and constrains growth. We built Astraeus to provide a unified infrastructure that understands how a firm actually operates and enables every decision, workflow, and process to benefit from that context.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the release, the core of the Astraeus platform centers around \u201cthe semantic layer and ontology,\u201d which \u201cencode the relationships between clients, advisors, accounts, products, fees, policies, and regulatory requirements, and they keep a record of what changed and why.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because the firm\u2019s context is modeled before AI touches the data, \u201coutputs are designed to be consistent, explainable, and traceable to their source, reducing the black-box risk that regulated advice cannot accept,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n

Jon Stevenson<\/a>, co-founder and president of Astraeus, added that while a lot of attention has centered around the newest models<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0partnership announcements<\/a>, the more important question is whether a company has the architecture needed for AI to understand its business.<\/p>\n

\u201cModels will evolve. New capabilities will emerge,\u201d he said. \u201cThe real competitive advantage will come from codifying the intelligence of the firm, including business rules, governance frameworks, and operating context built over time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stevenson and Rosen met while working at MoneyLion, where Stevenson oversaw corporate development and wealth management, and Rosen served as global chief technology officer.<\/p>\n

In other artificial intelligence news, PYMNTS wrote last week about research showing that while 70% of consumers are interested in using\u00a0AI agents<\/a>\u00a0for travel planning, and 71% for health and wellness,\u00a0only 49%<\/a>\u00a0would permit an AI agent to actually complete a purchase.\u00a0Trust in AI platforms to handle those transactions falls to just 3% among people who aren\u2019t regular users of AI.<\/p>\n
