Actress Tedde Moore, best known for playing Ralphie Parker’s teacher in the 1983 film A Christmas Story, has died at the age of 79.<\/p>\n
Moore died on 5 August in Huntsville, Ontario, according to a statement shared on her Facebook page.<\/p>\n
It read: “On Wednesday August 5th under sunny skies overlooking Fairy Lake, Tedde passed away surrounded by family, physically and spiritually in her beloved Huntsville Muskoka.<\/p>\n
“Her bravery in this choice was almost overwhelming, beyond beautiful and also difficult.<\/p>\n
“Forever the teacher, she had a quote for every occasion and a special way of touching the lives and hearts of everyone she met.<\/p>\n

“Her magic and love will be remembered by all she took under her generous and welcoming wings.”<\/p>\n
Moore was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009, according to The Independent.<\/p>\n
The actress, who was born in Toronto, graduated from the Royal Academy of Drama in London in 1967.<\/p>\n
She appeared as Miss Shields in A Christmas Story opposite Peter Billingsley and later reprised her role in the 1994 sequel My Summer Story, making her the only actor to appear in both films.<\/p>\n
In 2021, Moore appeared in a YouTube video to share a message with fans of the beloved holiday film.<\/p>\n
She said: “I just wanted to tell you how much it has meant to me to be part of the Christmas Story family.<\/p>\n
“None of us would be here today if it weren\u2019t for the gigantic heart of (film director) Bob Clark, who had the very good sense to recognise the cinematic quality of the extraordinary heartfelt writing of Jean Shepherd.<\/p>\n
“The fact that the boys and I, and yes I still call them the boys, are still friends after nearly 40 years, still family, has everything to do with heart, because that\u2019s how Bob chose his actors.”<\/p>\n
Some of Moore\u2019s other screen credits include the films Overnight and Rolling Vengeance and the TV shows The Kennedys and Friday The 13th: The Series.<\/p>\n
Moore is survived by four children. Her husband, Canadian film and television director Donald Shebib, died in 2023 at the age of 85.<\/p>\n
The couple had two children together, Suzanne and Noah, who were both child actors.<\/p>\n
Noah is now a music producer known by his stage name, 40, and has produced several of Drake\u2019s biggest hits.<\/p>\n
He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 22.<\/p>\n
Moore also had a daughter named Zoe from an earlier relationship with actor Patrick Christopher Carter and a foster daughter named Chaunce Drury.<\/p>\n
